If at first, the idea is not absurd, then there is no hope for it. ~ Albert Einstein
If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas. ~George Bernard Shaw
Agreed that both the above sayings aer highly cliched, but they manage to capture the spirit of this initiative, in the best manner possible.
Ideas challenge, a joint initiative between TREC-STEP and E-Cell focussed primarily at the NIT Trichy student community with the sole purpose to promote the growth of innovation coming out of the campus. The first edition held in April 2009 provided a phenomenal launchpad for dormant entrpreneurs with ideas relevant for the future. The whole event caught the fancy of the entire student junta simply because all that required of them was a single idea and not a holistic business plan.
The winners were felicitated during Genesis '09. Ms. Gita Chengappa, Incubation Manager at TREC-STEP spoke on the occassion and also gave away the prizes.
The winners are currently in the process of applying for the TePP grant from the DST, Govt. of India. to convert their ideas in to prototypes to be ready in tie for Ventura 10 in February next year.
